As you may already be aware, The Forjed Project is progressing rapidly, and the time has come to implement significant updates across our platforms. These updates will introduce new features, improvements, and adjustments to Forjed CD, Resulti, and Forjed DNS. While many of these changes will be positive, we acknowledge that some may be met with mixed reactions.
Resulti:
Resulti has always been a top priority for us in terms of development. We believe it is essential for the meta-search engine to evolve by incorporating features that are now commonplace in modern search engines but were not initially part of Resulti’s design.
To this end, we have already introduced, and are planning to introduce, several new features.
New Features Implemented:
- Resulti AI (also known as Rai): Resulti AI is currently in beta and can be activated by beginning a query with the keyword “rai.” The AI will assist by summarizing your query and providing helpful, related information. Although Resulti has traditionally maintained a stance against AI integration, we recognize the growing role AI plays in modern search engines. Rest assured, we believe AI should remain optional. We will include a setting to disable it entirely. Moreover, in response to privacy concerns surrounding AI usage, we have implemented API proxying to ensure that all requests are made on behalf of our server, safeguarding user privacy.
New features to be released soon:
- New Tools: We will be adding several new tools to enhance the search experience, including:
- Lyrics
- Stock information
- Series/movie information box
- Translation features
- Built-in map
- And more.
- Additional Languages: Since its inception, Resulti has only been available in English. However, we are excited to announce plans to support the following languages in the near future:
- French
- Spanish
- Irish
- German
- Italian
- Cree
- New Index: While Resulti has always emphasized privacy and independence as a meta-search engine, we are now planning to create our own search index in collaboration with Queye (another search engine) to further enhance search results.
- Expanded Sources: Although the new index will not change Resulti’s position as a meta-search engine, we plan to integrate additional sources, including:
- You Search
- Wiby
- Marginalia Search
- + our own index once completed
Forjed DNS:
In addition to updates to Resulti, the Forjed DNS service will be migrated to a new server with enhanced specifications, including improved I/O performance, faster speeds, and overall better reliability.
New Plans for Forjed CD:
We are rolling out new plans for Forjed CD to better support the ongoing costs associated with providing a reliable cloud storage service, while also introducing more flexibility for users. While we understand that some customers may be disappointed by certain limitations, we believe these changes will allow us to maintain the service’s sustainability and security.
Forjed CD Plans:
- Free Plan
- Price: $0
- Storage: 5 GB
- Upload Limit: 200 MB per file
- File Retention: Files will be stored for 48 hours only and automatically deleted after that period.
- Pro Plan
- Price: $2.49/month
- Storage: Unlimited GB
- Upload Limit: 1.5 GB per file
- File Retention: Files will be stored for 2 weeks only, after which they will be deleted.
- Premium Plan
- No longer available
These plans reflect the evolving needs of our users while accounting for the operational costs required to maintain the infrastructure that powers Forjed CD. We believe these adjustments are essential to provide the level of service and security that our platform demands.
External Server Option:
We understand that some users may feel restricted by the storage limits or retention policies in the new plans. To address this, we are introducing the “External Server” option. While users won’t be able to self-host the Forjed CD backend and frontend, this feature will allow users to integrate external servers as their storage space.
This new capability gives users more control over how they store their files. By enabling the use of third-party storage, we aim to provide greater flexibility and empower users to manage their data according to their needs. This aligns with our broader philosophy of giving users more control over the products they use.
Our New Philosophy:
At Forjed, we believe that users should have the power to decide how they use the services they rely on. This philosophy is at the core of our decision to allow external storage integrations and make AI optional on Resulti. We are committed to giving users more freedom and control, enabling them to tailor their experience based on their specific preferences and requirements.
We recognize that these changes may not appeal to everyone, but we hope that the new flexibility provided by external servers will offer a solution for those who need it.
